We've got a jam-packed weekend of TV ahead of us what with the FIFA World Cup starting up today, the Lakers vs Celtics on Sunday, and the premiere of "True Blood" and the finale of "Breaking Bad". LAist has some great sports writers so we won't pepper you with our ill-educated musings about the Lakers or how the USA will fare against England in tomorrow's match but we would suggest you check out the Tour de Suisse on Versus to see how Lance is shaping up for the Tour de France which starts in less than a month.
Sunday will feature the return of HBO's "True Blood" and there probably isn't a more anticipated event in the twitterverse/blogosphere/technorati - we've seen the first 3 episodes and can tell you that if you are a fan of the show, the wait was worth it. Intrigue from the outset and some pretty amazing new characters will justify the hype around this upcoming season.

This week has been a little bit strange in the wonderful world of television as some of the Fall season premiers have already begun, while the Summer of True Blood comes to an end. I really like how HBO did that – putting True Blood on in the Summer time. They know people will watch and I have a feeling the second season will be available for DVD just as that Winter holiday rolls around. It’s also great for the viewer like myself who doesn’t get out much. It gives me something to watch that isn’t a rerun of Friends or one of those “What Ever Happened To” shows.
